POMEGRANATE TREE
Pomegranate tree (Punica Granatum, L.) is a plant belonging to the family of the Punicaceae (or Lyntraceae according to the AGP ranking), originally coming from a region that goes from Iran to the Himalayan area of Northern India, present since ancient times in Caucasus, and in the entire Mediterranean area. Its leaves are opposite or sub-opposite, glossy, narrow oblong, entire.
Its flowers are, in the botanical species, bright red and can have three or four petals (many more in some horticultural varieties).
The fruit (pomegranate)is a berry of a very solid consistency, with a tough and thick peel; it has a round and slightly elongated shape and several internal partitions functioning as a placenta for the seeds. [Wikipedia]
